There has been much work carried out at the Arboretum. After last winter we realised that many of the plants needed protection from the harsh conditions so we have now put windbreaks around most specimens and they seem to be responding to the protection. Additional specimens have now been planted and the track through the Arboretum has been gravelled and each group of specimens has been labelled.
The Arboretum now also has QR Codes. Close to each group of specimens you will see what looks a post with what looks like a bar code on it. If you have a 'QR' app on your cell phone you will be able to access the codes for detailed information about each type of specimen.
In the last few months with the generosity of KlipTank we have planted up a Fernery in a small area close to the lagoon. There is a track through it and some shelter is provided by non-native trees that have been retained to provide protection while the ferns establish themselves.
